Amanda Alvaro is the Founder and President of the public relations agency Pomp & Circumstance. She was a senior communications adviser for both Justin Trudeau’s leadership bid and his party’s election campaign. As a political adviser and spokesperson at the provincial level, Amanda worked as a communications and issues adviser to the Ontario Liberals through successive election campaigns.
Amanda is also the founder of Canadian charity, Artbound, which has built arts schools and provided funds to children and communities in Kenya, India, Guatemala.
She can also be found on the speakers’ circuit, covering topics from PR and politics to women in business.
Kathleen Monk is a Principal at Earnscliffe Strategy Group. She was the founding Executive Director of the Broadbent Institute, a progressive organization focused on public policy and training. She served as Director of Strategic Communications for former NDP leader Jack Layton, and before entering politics, worked in newsrooms in Toronto, Ottawa and Washington, D.C.
Kathleen appears regularly on CBC The National’s The Insiders, and has been named one of the 100 most influential people in government and politics by The Hill Times.
She is an active volunteer with Equal Voice, focusing on how to field, nurture and promote more women candidates to every level of political office in Canada.
Tim Powers is Vice-Chairman of Summa Strategies, a leading Canadian public affairs consulting firm, and the Managing Director of Abacus Data, an opinion research company, both headquartered in Ottawa.
Tim has an extensive background in the conservative political arena, having served as an advisor and political operative for multiple federal party leaders and cabinet ministers. In addition to Power and Politics, he appears on CBC’s News Network with Carole MacNeil and writes for The Hill Times.
He is also the Chairman of Rugby Canada and the Lead Director for Park Lawn Corporation.
John Moore is the host of Canada’s number one talk radio morning show on NewsTalk 1010 Toronto.
A Montreal native, John launched his career in radio thirty years ago and has been a reporter,
anchor, arts critic, film reviewer and award winning features producer. He has written for the
National Post, Walrus Magazine and The New York Times.
Trained as an improv comedian, John has enjoyed a profitable if not entirely highbrow career in acting appearing in a host of awful movies and a handful of great ones including The Whole Nine Yards and the Oscar winning Arrival. John bombed on the game show Jeopardy providing the wrong answer to a question about his home town. He likes dogs.
