The Leader of the NDP, Jagmeet Singh, issued the following statement on Rosh Hashanah:
“Today is the beginning of the Jewish High Holidays. On behalf of the New Democratic Party of Canada, I would like to extend my best wishes to all Canadians gathered this weekend to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.
This holiday is a time to be with friends and family, to reflect on the past, and prepare for the coming year. Today is also an opportunity to revisit old challenges, build on past successes, as well as honour the important contributions and traditions of Canada’s vibrant Jewish community.
As we mark the beginning of the New Year, I hope all Canadians take the opportunity to join me and my fellow New Democrats in celebrating this rich cultural tradition, as one of the many that strengthen Canada as a country.
The NDP wishes all Jewish Canadian families a sweet new year filled with good health, happiness, peace and prosperity.
