I have read with interest the recent article and letters with regard to the April 29 resolution by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) calling for "a just peace for Palestine and Israel" and would like to state the government’s position on this issue.
First and foremost, both the government and Canada Post are committed to ensuring that the mail is delivered. Canada Post delivers mail daily to over 14 million addresses in Canada and forwards mail to almost every country in the world. This is an important and essential service that plays a vital role to our economy, our communications and our place in the world.
The views of CUPW do not reflect the views of the government or Canada Post. It is unfortunate that CUPW has threatened to disrupt the mail.
