MINISTER BERNIER ATTENDS ANNAPOLIS CONFERENCE ON THE MIDDLE EAST
The Honourable Maxime Bernier, Minister of Foreign Affairs, is attending the Annapolis Conference on the Middle East in Maryland, United States, from November 26 to 27. The Conference, being hosted by the United States, with the participation of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, will be an important opportunity to establish conditions conducive to the resumption of the Middle East peace process. It is expected that about 40 countries will be represented at the Conference, including a number of Arab states.Canada is encouraged by recent developments in the Middle East, and will add its voice and support to the efforts of Israelis and Palestinians to make progress towards a comprehensive peace.
