Pure, Unadulterated Tenacity
By Ilan Mann, CJPAC Fellow
When election season rolls around, newcomers to the world of campaigning get a taste of what every political junkie lives for. Election campaigns are as fun and exhilarating as they are important.
Politics attracts a wide variety of people, many of them with unique and diverse skill sets. There is no one winning formula for success in election campaigns, but there is one quality that is absolutely necessary for any would-be campaign gurus. It is in incredibly high demand, abysmally low supply, and the good news is this: you’ve got it.
Whether you know it or not, you posses the most coveted, game-changing strength in politics: pure, unadulterated tenacity.
It’s the backbone that keeps you running through sleepless nights of stuffing envelopes and taxing days of knocking on doors. It’s the mettle that drives you to meet one more voter, make one more phone call, nail in one more lawn sign.
It’s passion, it’s nerve, it’s sheer strength of will, and it’s priceless. You’ve got it, and every campaign wants it.
You can punch far above your weight, if only you have the will, and the resolve.
But it’s up to you. It’s up to you to get involved, to get active, and to get fighting.
Because it’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog.
