Statement by Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff on the celebration of Sukkot

Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles, or the feast of booths, invites Jews around the world to build a sukkah, a temporary hut, and to dwell outside their home for the eight days of the festival. Sukkot reminds those who celebrate it of the Exodus from Egypt, that was followed by 40 years of wandering in the desert. Sukkot is also a thanksgiving festival for celebrating the new harvest.

To all those celebrating Sukkot in Canada and around the world, please accept my best wishes on behalf of the Liberal Party of Canada
