The Leader of the NDP, Jagmeet Singh, issued the following statement today on Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day:
“Every year, we take a moment to remember and reflect on an inhuman genocide carried out against the Jewish community who were systemically murdered by the Nazis.
The planning and carrying out of the destruction of six million human lives is a frightening tragedy to reflect upon.
On Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, we are all called on to remember and contemplate the truth of the genocide: the brutal murder of six million Jews simply because they were Jewish. Women, children and men, executed in concentration camps and hunted in their own homes, simply because of their faith and identity.
Today, we remember, but must also go further and recommit ourselves to eliminating hatred in all its forms, and to always be vigilant against the rise of anti-semitism and xenophobia.”
