NDP critic for Multiculturalism, Jenny Kwan, made the following statement on the occasion of Rosh Hashanah:
“At the beginning of the Jewish High Holidays, on behalf of the New Democratic Party of Canada, I would like to extend my best wishes to all Canadians gathered this weekend to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.
This holiday is a time to be with friends and family, to reflect on the past, and to prepare for the coming year. Rosh Hashanah is an opportunity to revisit old challenges and build on past successes, as such, it is one of the many and rich cultural traditions that strengthen Canada as a country.
As we mark the beginning of the New Year, I hope all Canadians take the opportunity to join me and my fellow New Democrats in celebrating the contributions of the Jewish community to the Canadian fabric.
The NDP wishes all Jewish Canadian families a sweet new year filled with good health, happiness, peace and prosperity.
Shanah Tovah!”
