Overview of the Position:
The Associate Director, Political Training will design and deliver training programs that inspire and empower Canada’s Jewish community and allies to maximize their political impact.
Reporting to the National Director of Outreach & Programming, the successful candidate will work closely with CJPAC team members and lay leaders across Canada to develop best-in-class political training, including CJPAC’s Generation: Student Leaders program for Jewish high school students.
Responsibilities:
- Program Design and Delivery: Lead the design, development, and implementation of high-quality political training programs for diverse audiences, with a focus on maximizing political impact — including CJPAC’s Generation: Student Leaders program for Jewish high school students, ensuring educational goals are met and participants are actively engaged.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Cultivate strong relationships with external stakeholders (e.g., community organizations, educational institutions, political leaders) to enhance program reach and effectiveness.
- Program Oversight and Evaluation: Manage program logistics, scheduling, and resource allocation; monitor and assess program effectiveness through feedback and data analysis, making recommendations for improvements.
- Content Development and Resource Management: Develop training materials, including presentations, workshops, handouts, and digital resources, ensuring alignment with program goals. Stay informed on political trends and issues impacting Jewish and allied communities to ensure program relevance.
- Event Planning and Coordination: Organize and manage political training events, workshops, and webinars, coordinating logistics, recruiting speakers, and ensuring smooth execution.
- Community Outreach: Represent CJPAC at relevant events to promote training programs and recruit political volunteers; advocate for political engagement within Jewish and allied communities and with key political stakeholders.
Candidate Profile:
CJPAC is seeking a team member with a growth mindset, outstanding attention to detail, exceptional relationship-building skills, and demonstrated leadership abilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of Canadian politics, hands-on experience in political and/or advocacy campaigns, and a deep commitment to CJPAC’s mission. A willingness to travel and flexibility around work hours are essential.
Skills & Abilities:
- Program Design and Development: Proven experience designing, developing, and delivering impactful training programs. Ability to create engaging and accessible training materials for diverse audiences, including youth and community leaders. Experience working with youth or emerging leaders in educational or leadership development contexts.
- Political and Community Knowledge: Strong understanding of Canadian political systems and political engagement processes. Familiarity with Jewish communal priorities and political advocacy issues.
- Political Campaign or Advocacy Experience: Familiarity with political and/or advocacy campaigns and best practices. Direct experience working or volunteering on political campaigns is an asset.
- Ownership and Follow-Through: Strong work ethic, commitment to accountability, and consistency in managing stakeholder needs and expectations.
- Leadership and Mentorship: Ability to inspire and mentor youth and young adults and inspire trust with community members, fostering political engagement and leadership development.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly. Strong public speaking and presentation skills, able to engage diverse audiences in-person or virtually.
- Project and Event Management: Strong organizational and time management skills, capable of handling multiple projects and deadlines effectively. Experience in planning and executing events, workshops, and webinars, including logistics, participant communication, and post-event follow-up.
- Cultural Competence and Sensitivity: Strong understanding of Jewish and allied community values and traditions, with the ability to design inclusive programs. Experience engaging with multi-generational and multi-cultural audiences.
- Innovation and Creativity: Ability to think creatively in designing engaging training methods, content, and delivery formats. Experience incorporating digital tools into training delivery.
- Digital Literacy: Proficiency in using digital tools, social media, and online platforms to enhance program delivery. Comfortable using virtual training and event platforms, including webinars and video conferencing tools. Knowledge of Salesforce is an asset.
Location:
This position is based in Toronto. CJPAC maintains a hybrid work environment, with team members in the GTA working in the office two days per week.
Compensation & Benefits:
Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience. Medical and dental coverage are provided.
Vacation for this role will start at three weeks per year. In addition, CJPAC observes all Jewish holidays.
