Brett Chang and Alex Blumenstein are not just Fellowship Alumni but also business partners and friends. They met in 2010 as volunteers on a mayoral campaign. That same year Alex became a Fellow (2010-11, 2011-12) and Brett followed suit (2012-13). They credit the Fellowship for giving them skills, lifelong friends, important contacts and a network they can always reply on. “I know there are people I can just call up for help,” Alex said.
These relationships and skills have led Brett and Alex to form a few business ventures together, including their current project, The Peak. It is a daily newsletter covering the top Canadian and global business news one can read in less than five minutes. “We saw a gap in the market for millennials and Gen Z,” explains Brett. “So we decided to write it ourselves.” In a few short months their subscribers have grown to 20,000+. (A big boost came when they shared it with the extremely supportive Fellowship Alumni Association.) You can check it out and subscribe at readthepeak.com.
“The value of CJPAC are the people you’re introduced to early in your life whom you can rely on and trust, and the relationships you form because of it,” said Alex. “CJPAC cemented that relationship between us.”
