“Tonight at sundown, the Jewish community in Canada will begin to observe Passover. On behalf of all New Democrats, I would like to extend our best wishes to those celebrating here at home and everywhere.
The Passover story of the Exodus is a story of redemption, triumph over oppression. It is a strong reminder that hope and perseverance can help us build a better world – a story that still resonates today.
As we celebrate the contributions of the Jewish people, New Democrats reaffirm our commitment to stand against anti-Semitism and all forms of hatred, discrimination, and oppression. All Canadians can all take the principle of tikkun olam – acts of kindness to repair the world – to heart by working together to create a more inclusive world.
To all those marking Passover, may your celebrations be joyous and peaceful.
