Associate Director, Events

Overview of the Position 

The Associate Director, Events will be responsible for a broad portfolio of events supporting CJPAC’s mission – from intimate parlour meetings to large-scale milestones like CJPAC’s renowned ACTION parties. 

Reporting to the National Director of Outreach & Programming, the successful candidate will work closely with CJPAC team members across Canada to plan and deliver an ambitious calendar of events focused on political engagement of Jewish Canadians and allies. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Event Concept and Design: Develop scalable, repeatable event formats and concepts that align with CJPAC’s goals. Host and
  • Volunteer Coordination: Work closely with event hosts and committee members to facilitate alignment and event success. 
  • Budget Management: Create and oversee event budgets, ensuring events remain cost-effective. 
  • Vendor Coordination: Identify, hire, and manage vendors such as caterers, decorators, audiovisual providers, and sometimes event planners. 
  • Venue Selection and Logistics: Research and secure venues, and coordinate layout, seating, and other logistical needs. 
  • Timeline Management: Create and execute detailed event timelines and schedules. 
  • Marketing and Promotion: Work closely with CJPAC’s Marketing & Communications team to  align event promotion with our brand and mission. 
  • Registration and Guest Management: Oversee RSVPs, ticket sales, and on-site guest check-ins. 
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure all permits, insurance, and safety regulations are adhered to. 
  • Event Execution: Manage event setup, operations, and breakdown on the day of each event. 
  • Post-Event Evaluation: Gather feedback, analyze outcomes, and create reports for continuous improvement.

Candidate Profile: 

CJPAC is seeking a team member with a growth mindset, outstanding attention to detail, exceptional relationship-building skills, and demonstrated leadership abilities. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of work experience, a strong track record of planning successful events, be familiar with Canadian politics (including some hands-on campaign experience), and demonstrate a deep commitment to CJPAC’s mission. A willingness to travel and flexibility around work hours are essential. 

Skills & Abilities: 

  • Exceptional people skills, with ability to quickly identify common ground and opportunities for collaboration
  • Strong work ethic, commitment to accountability, and consistency in managing stakeholder needs and expectations. 
  • Strong communication abilities, initiative, and flexibility – with the ability to make smart, quick decisions under pressure. 
  • Demonstrated experience delivering successful events from concept, to planning, to execution. 
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and demonstrate ownership in a demanding, fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders. 
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships with donors / sponsors is an asset. 
  • Growth mindset and commitment to continual learning and improvement; desire to grow within the organization. 
  • Experience building and working with budgets. 
  • Proficient using virtual event platforms, including webinars and video conferencing tools. Knowledge of Salesforce is an asset. 

Location: 

This position is based in Toronto. CJPAC maintains a hybrid work environment, with team members in the GTA working in the office two days per week. 

Compensation & Benefits: 

Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience. Medical and dental coverage are provided. 

Vacation for this role will start at three weeks per year. In addition, CJPAC observes all Jewish holidays.
